For those of you who don't know me and are new to my blog, I'm Ann Marie Michaels. I'm a wife and mother and a health blogger living in Texas. I have worked in online media and marketing for over 25 years.

I am using my decades of experience and to help people start their own part-time online business they can run from home.

Did You Know Just Having a Small Business Can Save You Money on Taxes?

I've had my own home-based business for nearly 3 decades. When I was working in the corporate world, I always had a freelance "side hustle."  

Having a small business on the side has helped me make extra money over the years, but perhaps even more importantly, I have always saved a lot of money on my taxes.

In 2018, the average middle-income American family earning around $50,000 paid over $15,000 in taxes to federal, state, and local governments in 2018. This includes direct taxes, such as income taxes, as well indirect taxes, like payroll taxes. (Source)

Families can save thousands of dollars every year, just by owning a small business and getting 1099 income in addition to W-2 income (from a job.)

And the IRS doesn't require you to make a profit on your small business for the first 3 years.
